This one is an older piece, but i felt it deserved to be included. I look back now and see where some adjustments could be made...hey you live and you learn!

This is a concept based on a documentary I recently saw of man living in Europe that developed a tumor on his face and never attended to it. So it continued to grow and grow until his face was completely engulfed.

Here I was thinking back to the days of Conan the Barbarian when he was fighting in the pit, and I wanted to design some helmets that fit the scene.

This piece was sculpted using a mixture of Super Sculpey and Primo which is much softer than I prefer. I was going for a dark base clay to experiment with, but I think it made it a little harder to photograph.

This is the concept art which I based the maquette on. As you can see I made some adjustments here and there for the final sculpt.

So I'm kicking off my very first post with the 1st of a series of maquettes I'm currently in the process of making! Hopefully I can keep the momentum going with my posts and not slack off! Hope you enjoy!
